I woke up a little early this morning to meet Isaac at the Food Network studios for another taping of “Iron Chef” and was pleasantly surprised by a message on my Blackberry from my Aunt Sue (you remember her…not really my “aunt,” but rather my mom’s best friend.) The RE: line said something about Jonnycakes…well that was all I had to see to start beaming with excitement. Jonnycakes are of course the corn cakes traditional in Rhode Island. Anyway, long story short…Aunt Sue was passing a long a link to her college friend Jane’s blog about Rhode Island food. One word: HEAVEN! I’ve now spent the last hour pouring over the blog. It’s wonderful…great recipes, beautiful writing and storytelling, and a perfectly lovely amount of wit and charm. If you have any interest in culinary thoughts that are both inspired and rich in tradition and knowledge be sure to check out Little Compton Mornings.

I’m looking forward to trying many of Jane’s recipes when I am home in Florida next week. Most people relax when they are on vacation, not me…I stand in the kitchen for days on end. The recipes for buttermilk rolls, pasta with asparagus and mint, and whipped cream cake will all be put to the test. Stay tuned.

Be Good,

KCP

UPDATE: I’m still reading the blog….Spiced Pineapple-Rhubarb Conserve + fresh biscuits = Dreamy…I can’t wait to get into the kitchen with these recipes. A big HOORAY for Jane!
