The General Greene
I had dinner at a new restaurant in my neighborhood on Sunday night…The General Greene….which is a play on the officer for whom the neighborhood (Fort Greene) is named. The menu offered a variety small, share plates. Usually this is not my thing…I always leave feeling so hungry after a dinner or shared plates or tapas…but I was pleasantly surprised by the food. I had chicken liver (yum) toasts and a piece of ham & Gruyere bread pudding. The bread pudding portion was a touch small, but otherwise good. (I will say Martha’s recipe for Ham, Gruyere, and Leek Bread Pudding is a little better). The decor was cute and simple and I loved the use of canning jars for everything from food service to beer mugs. Queer Eye’s Ted Allen was having dinner a few tables over and seemed pleased with his meal too…so I guess the two of us can’t be wrong.
