Coming October 7, 2008, “How to Have Style” is a book about inspiration. It is based on Isaac’s philosophy and belief that inspiration leads to creating a personal fashion style. It is not a book filled with impossible-to-achieve makeovers. “How to Have Style” will help you achieve the look you’ve always wanted and desired.
Filled with Isaac’s unique insights and trademark sense of humor, “How to Have Style” will be the must-have book, for a must-have look for the fall.

“Who do you think you are, Isaac?” That’s what my 78-year-old mother said when I told her I was putting together a magazine. “Just what the world needs, another style magazine!”

Yes. And a website, naturally.

Isaac’s Style Book has everything you expect from a lifestyle magazine, but here’s how it’s different: Every photograph you see in our pages is unstaged, filled with real people, really getting dressed, really cooking, really performing, and enjoying themselves immensely. No airbrushing in this magazine, no retouched reality. Just people making use of what they have and making mistakes.

Rule no. 1 when it comes to Style Book style is that mistakes are not only allowed, they’re encouraged. The whole point of style is to activate your senses, to see and taste and touch and smell things anew.

Rule no. 2 is you have to get down and dirty. Seriously, we like rolling up our sleeves to make things, whether it’s fish stock or our very own jeans. In the process of pursuing style you discover a lot about yourself. The only way to do that is to make a mess. And enjoy the mess!

Other than that, there are no rules.

—Isaac Mizrahi

ps: Be sure to check out the STYLE LAB section of the web site to view excerpts of the articles, interviews, and tutorials!

Sandee is a ravishing blonde discovered in a New York City coffee shop by a fashion designer named Yvesaac. The story follows Sandee from discovery to success as a cover girl to stardom in a documentary about her life. Along the way, she battles jealousy, conniving back-stabbers, eating disorders and addiction. Yvesaac/Isaac provides the score on agents, photographers, publicists, editors, and groupies in a trio of oversized and unconventional comic books that encapsulate the spirit of the fashion world. (Simon & Schuster, 1997).
