The whole process was a joy
My show Wednesday was so much fun. The whole process was a joy from selecting the first fabric to watching the collection on tape afterwards. As I was sending the girls out Wednesday afternoon I remarked to myself how beautifully executed the clothes were, how far they’d come in just one year’s time and I have no doubt that it’s because I finally have the right people I’m working with. Elizabeth and Brian, the two designers who work with me now are wonderful. And Michelle, the head patternmaker, the woman who runs the sampleroom is superb. Not to mention the ladies who sew the clothes, who I think are making great strides. There’s also a new stylist in my life named Kristin, who is the best. Between her and Julio I felt great confidence and felt supported throughout. We all had a lot of fun. I consider myself very lucky and can only imagine how great the next collection is going to be. The crazy thing is that no matter how exhausted one is from a fashion show, no matter how much post-pardum depression one feels the few days afterwards, one is always motivated immediately by the idea of the next. If you reminded any woman about the horrors of childbirth I don’t think you’d get a lot of them having second or third babies. Somehow the gods see to it that second-time mothers and fashion designers have terrible memories and we go forth into the unknown.
