I showed my Fall 2009 collection yesterday during New York Fashion week at the New York Public Library – check out all the action from behind the scenes, to on the runway! The show took place in the beyond gorgeous Celeste Bartos Forum at the NYPL, it has this amazing dome ceiling -

The venue was perfect – and made the show really intimate, here is the crew doing some last minute work on the runway construction:

The girls in the show walked to an original score by the Bad Plus – here are they guys warming up, they really set the upbeat mood for the happy clothes:

The crew had this great sticker on their equipment:

Backstage we try to keep things organized by sorting out the looks the girls wear and keeping everything separate and labeled:

Here we are making some last minute decisions and reviewing the looks one last time before sending the girls out:

Here you can see some progress on the runway:

Erika takes one final look at the seating chart and double checks with the seat cards that everything is in order before the guests start arriving:

Backstage, model Ali Stephens gets made up before the girls go through a walk-through so they can rehearse the pacing and the rotation:

Meanwhile, I do a series of interviews backstage among all the madness, here I am chatting with Katrina Szish:

Once the show starts, you can really see the whole scene, it was so much fun to show this collection, especially in these gloomy times, the bright colors and fun pieces felt even happier:

It is certainly a lot of work for about 15 minutes of the actual show, but it was such a rewarding feeling and I am so excited about the clothes! Be sure to check out a video of the full show on our website, and view each look, now that you’ve seen the behind-the-scenes, don’t miss the runway!

congrats to everyone that worked so hard to make SMILE happen! the vibe was upbeat, the clothes made a statement, the purse hats were memorable and it was true issac. also can i say how much i ADORE that your show took place in a library? im such a bookworm and now I want to go that spot just because of your show. i also think that was a genius choice because it is accessible and caters to a individual while being simply gorgeous. :)
