I spent some time last week at the most gloriously relaxing inn in Connecticut with Arnold…I was at the very charming Mayflower Inn in Washington, CT. It was the perfect place to recharge and I just LOVED it. Not only is it absolutely gorgeous there, but they had an incredible spa as well. Here I am en route to the spa:

How gorgeous is this room in the spa house? It was kind of the most tranquil place ever:

After the spa treatments, you could recline in these fabulous chaise lounges that overlooked the beautiful gardens:

Does it really get any better than that? Here is the putting green:

And the pool house…

And these gardens! This is the view from our balcony of the Shakespeare Garden:

And let me tell you, after my time here I can say I have discovered the bounties of Connecticut, I had NO idea! It was so gorgeous and pristine, the perfect vacation. In addition to all the spa treatments and fabulous gardens, the food was incredible. Here I am ordering in the dining room –

The dining room itself was so charming, with chic painted wall murals and gorgeous antique sconces – here’s the entrance:

Here is Arnold in this cute elevator, that was wood paneled and a total throwback:

My other discovery of the week, other than Connecticut, was my very first Manhattan. Seriously, bourbon, sweet vermouth and a cherry? What is better?

As I said, the food was fantastic, here’s a Grand Marnier souffle and raspberry sorbet I had one night. It was great, but my raspberry sorbet is hands-down better:

And a chocolate cake I had another night…

After my wonderful, happy, gorgeous weekend in CT, I made it back to the beach for one more night in Bridgehampton before heading back to the city. While I was there I was looking around at my salad ingrediants and realized if I just had some tuna I could make a beautiful nicoise salad – so I seared some tuna and threw together this:

It was such a fabulous and relaxing weekend, but now I’m back at the studio, going from meeting to meeting – be sure to check out my
latest video blogs, and I hope you all had fun Memorial Day weekends!

xxx,

Isaac

How beautiful it looks. I tried my first Manhattan straight after watcing Some Like It Hot for the first time (.....no doubt they taste better shaken in a hot water bottle by Marilyn Monroe)
